The player must select a route for the LEGO Mario figure (not included in the set), on which one of the toy figures (Bob-omb, Koopa or Piranha plant) must be defeated to finally hop onto the POW block and open the gate to the fortress.
To reach the fortress and collect digital coins, LEGO Mario may need to use the catapult and bounce over lava from LEGO bricks or stepping stones in the "water". Mario reacts very differently to every opponent who meets him.
